Snow Break

I survived midterms. Thank God!

After the long hours of studying for tests I was actually looking forward to going back to school. I was kinda looking forward to life being back to 'normal' for a while. Well that did not last long because on Thursday we were hit with the tiniest amount of snow, and just like that, school was canceled. It seemed strange only having one day of school in the 3rd quarter, especially since we hardly did anything that day.

I also should mention that I realized right after the snow started that I had just finished my book the night before. There was no chance of me getting a new one unless I wanted to get stuck on the highway and I had already read and re-read all of the books on my shelf. I was not okay with this so I went down to the prayer room and found a book to hold me off for a while. My dad recommended it so lets just say I was surprised to find it was actually pretty interesting.

Friday was the March for Life and we already knew we didn't have school that day. I went to the youth rally with a few of my friends and it was really fun! That afternoon it started snowing and by the end of the night I think we had about 5-6 inches.

Saturday came and went and when I woke up on Sunday morning we had around 30 inches of fluffy flakes. That is A LOT of snow! We accidentally trapped our big van in the garage behind our house which meant we had to do a lot of plowing and shoveling snow out of the way. Luckily, after hours of lifting snow this afternoon we cleared the drive way enough to get the car out. Were going to dinner to celebrate our hard work (and to get out of the house after being trapped in for almost 3 days haha).

This is a list of things I did during the snow break (besides sleep a lot more than usual):

  1. Movies watched:3 (Evan Almighty, The Giver (again, because its so good), Cinderella (new one)
  2. Baking: approximately 3 dozen (2 different kinds)
  3. Organizing: pantry and fridge
  4. Books read:1 (Hail, Holy Queen-Scott Hahn)
  5. Books re-read: 3 (All 3 Hunger Games books- some of my new favorites)
  6. School- about 0 minutes

We already know that we have school off again tomorrow (Tuesday). Its going to be rough going back to school after such a long break. I also have the science fair coming up on February 1st and, lets just say, I kinda procrastinated and have a lot more people left to experiment on. Pray I can finish it in time!

Book Edition #2

Friday again! I'm so happy!

The book I'm writing about today is......

.....Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief.

For all of you who don't know, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is the 1st book of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series (by Rick Riordan).

I love this book for so many reasons!!!!! The main reason I decided to post about this is because its been on my mind lately because one of my friends just finished reading it today and we have been talking about it. All you have to do is open the book and read the chapter names to see what an amazing book this is. For instance the 1st chapter is "I accidentally vaporized my pre-algebra teacher". I mean really? Who wouldn't love that book?

If you have not read this book and/or this series you absolutely need to! I am completely serious. Everybody I know that has actually taken the time to read this book and/or series has loved it and I'm pretty darn sure that everybody who hasn't read the book is jealous because everyone else is talking about it. YOU HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK!!!!!

Finals Edition

Hi guys!

First off I wanna say that I only have 9 1/2 more school days left......

....Until finals.

I haven't even been in school for one year. I haven't even had a final yet. I have come to the conclusion that midterms and finals are, well there is a whole list to describe them but mostly they are HARD!!!!!

OK the tests aren't really that hard (based on the midterms). Its just stressful. Its stressful to wake up at the same time you usually do for school even though you don't have to be at the school until an hour and a half after you usually have to be there. But you get up at the same time anyways, just so you can have that extra hour and a half to study. Its stressful getting to school at 9:00 getting out at 12:30 and knowing that you have a whole night of studying left to do. Its stressful being awake at what seems like inhumanly(is that a word?) hours to study for a test.

I mean come on!!! Its just another test! Right?

This is the time of year when you have 8 straight days of tests that could either make you fail or make you ace the class.

So really the tests aren't hard. In fact for me they're easy. Whats hard is studying for hours on the same context. OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER. Especially knowing that you could be eating, sleeping, reading or pretty much doing anything else besides what your doing at that minute. Especially when you know you only have so long until Summer. Especially when it seems like everyone else is enjoying their life. It is SO hard.

I just want to say something my religion teacher said the day we got back from Easter break. I thought it was really funny.

He said "You have finished the marathon. Congratulations! Now your running the sprint".

So so so so so true!!!!!! (not very funny now!)

Just when your ready for Summer you get about ten times more homework. Just when your ready to collapse your teachers go into panic mode. The whole school goes into panic mode. You don't know what to do with your time. You don't know what to study when. You don't know when you'll get your study sheets from those extremely slow teachers. Honestly I feel like I JUST DON'T KNOW. Am I the only one?

So for everybody who is going through these finals now or whenever- I am praying for you!!!

For everyone who doesn't have to take a final until the day of the final judgement- PLEASE PRAY FOR US!!!!!

It is so hard. Keep persevering and good luck!

Also, if anyone feels like I'm the only one who feels like this please, please, please let me know! (I'm pretty sure everyone feels like this though!)

Also, I am extremely sorry if I don't get a chance to post in this time of chaos. Please forgive me!!!!! Between studying, reading The Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter- boo ya!) and Irish dance, I'm gonna be pretty busy.

Book Edition #1

Hello friends!

I am extremely sorry for the extremely large gap between posts!!! I totally lost track of time and realized that I hadn't blogged in 2 whole months!! Time flies when your having fun.

Well today I decided to start a book blog. My goal is to write about books or a certain book (anything that has to do with books) every Friday especially during the Summer but please forgive me if I cant do it on time or at all that week especially in May because we have finals coming up and it is extremely busy!

The first thing I should mention is I LOVE BOOKS!!!!!!!! Whenever I have free time I read a book. When I'm bored I read a book. When I'm tired I read a book. When I'm happy I read a book. When I'm sad I read a book. I think you get the point. I LOVE BOOKS!!!

Today my book is.... ready?.......set? it is..........

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

Ok guys I will confess right now that there are certain kinds of books that I don't really like. Don't get me wrong I like ALMOST every kind but those very few that I don't like I detest. The reason for this is  probably because I think its a waist of time to read books that you don't enjoy. One of those kinds of books that I usually detest just so happen to be classics. Why? I have no idea. Classics just don't interest me. Some of the classics that I detest are Tom Sawyer, The Lord of the Rings and The Swiss Family Robinson. However I have some (very few) classics that do interest me though and Little Women is one of them.

That is the reason I picked it for my very first book edition- because it makes me so happy that I can read it and don't have to worry about hating it as I read it. (One thing you should know about me is that once I start a book I HAVE to finish it. No exceptions.)

Little Women is about four girls Meg, Joe, Beth and Amy. The book is about the four girls growing up and their adventures through life. I definitely recommend Little Women.

Fun fact you might not know- Louisa May Alcott based the character Joe off of herself. She was a tomboy just like Joe.

PS. If any of you have any recommendations of classics that you would recommend I would be more then happy to try them out! Please don't think that I'm opposed to reading classics because I'm definitely not!!!
